Easy, fresh and nutritious!
The definition of Organic food in my dictionary is: food produced or involving production without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or other artificial chemicals.
Going organic means you will be protecting yourself and your baby from pesticide residue that can be found on foods that are grown using conventional methods.
The environmental working group has recently released a list of the dirty dozen foods. These foods have been found to contain the most amounts of pesticide residue. Even though Environmental Working Group states that the benefits of consuming fruits and vegetables far outweigh the risks of consuming pesticide residue, you should aim to buy organic produce for your baby. Make sure that your baby eats are much organic fruit and vegetables as possible.
The USDA has set allowable pesticide residue limits that they deem as safe for consumption and most of the foods that will you find at your local grocery store should meet those standards.
Organic food is the best food that you can feed your baby especially in the first year of his life as this is when babies develop at a rapid rate and are more sensitive to harmful chemicals. Organic food is also better for our soils, for us and the environment. It is the greener choice.
You can also make your own homemade baby food using organically grown produce, free range organic chickens, beef and much more. Homemade baby food is the best food for your baby because you know exactly what goes into her/his little tummy. You know the ingredients to start with, so you do not have to worry about the unhealthy stuff like food thickeners, preservatives and more. You put your focus on giving your baby the best nutrition possible.
Commercial baby food stands on store shelves for months. To make this possible, commercial baby food is normally cooked at very high temperatures to sterilize it and much of the nutrition is lost because of this.
More and more leading chain supermarkets are stocking up on organic produce as they notice that the demand for organic food is increasing by the day. If you want to buy the freshest organic produce, then try and locate your nearest organic farmer. There are many organic farms in the USA today and some of them even offer home delivery of fresh fruits and vegetables.
