Vegetarian baby recipes-Simple Carrot Puree (from 6 months)

Ingredients:

350g carrots (3 medium carrots)

2 cups water

Directions:

Wash and peel the carrots, chop them up and steam or boil  until nice and soft. Puree the cooked carrots adding a teaspoon of unsalted butter or a teaspoon of vegetable oil.

To adjust puree consistency to suit your baby, add a bit of boiled water or breast milk.

Avocado And Banana Puree (from 6 months)

Peel and pit one medium sized ripe avocado.

Puree until smooth.Add one or just half a banana and puree further until really smooth and with no lumps. Yummy!



Yummy Dried beans 'n'  Tomato Sauce

1 Cup Dried Beans 

25g onion, chopped finely

300g crashed canned  tomatoes

2 tbs olive oil or vegetable oil

Directions

Boil the beans until cooked (keep adding water until the beans are cooked)

Using a heavy based frying pan, saute the chopped onions in the olive oil on medium heat until fragrant and translucent. Add the tomatoes and cook for about 3 minutes. Combine the tomato sauce with the beans and 
cook for a further 5 to 10 minutes adding a bit more water if needed.

Vegetarian baby recipes - Cauliflower  Puree ( from 6 months)

Ingredients:


200g Cauliflower cut into small florets

1    Cup water for steaming

Directions:

Bring the cup of water to the boil in the steamer pot place the cauliflower florets into the steamer basket. Cover with lid and steam the florets until tender ( about 10 minutes, I use mark 5 on my stove), reserve the cooking liquid. When the florets are cooked, puree to a smooth consistency for the younger babies (6-7 month olds).

Use the reserved cooking  liquid or breatsmilk to make the puree lighter if you think its too thick for your baby.


Vegetarian baby recipes - Broccoli puree (from 6 months)

200g broccoli

Directions

Cut the broccoli into florets and steam until tender. Puree the broccoli to a smooth concistency for babies under 8 months of age or mash with the back of a fork for babies older than 8 months. 

Add  boiled water or breast milk to adjust puree consistency



Sweet Potato Puree

1 Medium sized sweet potato

Directions

Wash, peel and chop the sweet potato into cubes.

Steam the cubes until soft and tender reserving the cooking liquid

Using a handheld food processor, puree the sweet potato to a smooth texture and add a bit of the cooking liquid

if you like, for a thinner consistency.

Vegetable baby recipes - White Potato Puree (from 6 months)

2 medium sized white potatoes

Directions

Wash, peel and chop potatoes into cubes and boil potatoes for 20 minutes or until tender. Mash the potatoes instead of using a food proccesor to avoid getting a glue-like texture. Add either breast milk or boiled water at 
the end and mix well.


Vegetable baby recipes -Zucchini Puree

2 Medium sized Zucchinis

Directions

Wash, peel, chop and steam zucchini until tender. Puree zucchini to a smooth consistency.
